Captain Calico

I did a lot of work on this one so stick with me. I replaced every material on the set with a Superfly material either of my own making or from one of the resources I own. I also replaced the outside backdrop with “The Big Blue” set by Cybertenko which is a 3D ocean plane and skydome and set it to be a sunset rather than a moonlit night like the original set’s backdrop. Most of the light in the scene comes either from the emissive materials on the candles or the skydome outside the windows. There are two area lights inside the cabin to project a tiny bit more light (they’re set to 5% and 10% respectively so yeah, tiny bit). I then rendered the scene in Superfly all in Poser 12.

Now for the postwork! In Photoshop, I added flames and some subtle flickers of sparks via a couple brushes to the candles so they wouldn’t all look so uniform. I also played with the colors a little via a Photoshop action or two. I then took the image into Lightroom where I did the final color and contrast edits and created the final artwork that you see here.
