Notes

My favorite series of paintings by Vincent Van Gogh is the Irises series but the Olive Grove series is a close second. This artwork was both inspired by and a tribute to my favorite Van Gogh olive grove painting. The original painting can be seen on the canvas she has just painted in the bottom right corner. I tried to recreate the painting with realistic scenery as close as I could while still making it look aesthetically pleasing yet it turned out with a surreal look to it. I have to admit, I’m rather proud of this artwork. It turned out far better than I could have hoped.
Technical Notes

The scene was rendered in Superfly with two lights (a point light for the sun and an ambient fill light) plus the yellow skydome illuminating the scene. I rendered the scene with a slight depth of field effect to add depth. Postwork was minimal as I just adjusted the colors and contrast, “smoothed” the colors, and then created the layered lens flare effects.
