Holidaze
Well, it’s that time of year… the holiday season and soon, the end of the year. As I mentioned in my last post, next year will be the 20th anniversary of my Dream 9 Art so I overhauled the website in a way I have never done before. Well, I decided to give this site a little bit of a facelift too. I increased the contrast of the site’s color scheme, updated the logo, and a few other little things. Does it look a little better to you? I hope so.
I will also soon be making my annual “My Best Artworks of…” post. I haven’t counted how many artworks I’ve created so far this year, and I don’t know how many I have yet to create this year, but I do know it’s a larger number than either 2024 or 2023. I also make an annual little book of my best artworks of the year via Shutterfly. I’ve done this since 2019, although I had to combine 2023 and 2024 due to not having enough artworks either year for their own book. Well, it just so happens that Shutterfly stopped making the 6×6″ hardcover books earlier this year that I used for my annual artwork book. I can either make an 8×8″ book from Shutterfly for this year or go over to Snapfish and make a 6×8″ book at a cheaper price. I decided to go to Snapfish. I dislike that all of my books will no longer perfectly match up on my bookshelf, but at least they will all be the same height. I also ordered some new prints for my office walls as they were also on a great sale at Snapfish where I so far where I bought 5 8x10s and 4 5x7s and the price was only $7 for all of them! This might be an even better deal than Shutterfly’s “Prints for Pennies” special that they have every once in a while. I’m very interested to see if there is any difference in quality.
A couple days ago, I wrote a new To Do List. I have to write lists of things I need to do or else I’ll lose track. Well, after writing the list which ending up having a lot of physical tasks (mostly of the cleaning variety), I started actually doing some of the tasks. I’m going to try to spend this week cleaning things up and getting my space to be a little tidier. In between cleaning tasks, while I catch my breath and rest a bit, I’ll be working on some new artworks and other art projects. I’ll continue to do the things on my list so I can happily cross them off the list and feel oh so accomplished. That’s the other reason I make these lists, that feeling of accomplishment when I cross out a task I’ve completed.
Mom left a couple days ago for Kansas City to visit my aunt and my cousin and her family. I’m not alone though, I’ve still got Pixie and Abbey Rose. We were worried Pixie would have another breakdown when she realized Mom wasn’t coming home right away. (She had a horrible nervous breakdown when Dad didn’t come home last year.) Well, Pixie is fine. I think she’s actually angry at Mom because Mom didn’t take the time to say “bye, bye” to her before leaving. It’s going to be interesting to see what Pixie does when Mom finally gets home. Regardless, this means it will just be me and the pups on Xmas Eve and Day. My uncle did say I could go over to their house for Xmas Day but, honestly, I’d rather stay here even if it means no Xmas presents from them. I’ll still consider going over there long enough to get some food though. It might be interesting to see how they all act when Mom isn’t around. If they bring Dad over though… I just can’t handle seeing what has become of what’s left of him. It hurts too much. I guess I won’t be going after all.
That’s all for now. I need to go tackle some more of the tasks on my To Do List. Happy Holidays to you!
