A Helping Hand

The juxtaposition of two sides of madness, one happy and manic but still lost in whimsy reaching out to the side feeling trapped, alone and lost in the dark.

Notes

This artwork began as a reworking of an artwork from 2012 called “Of Shattered Mind” but it soon took on a life of its own. I started reworking the artwork several weeks ago but couldn’t figure out how to finish it until I had an epiphany today and finally figured out exactly what it needed to become the artwork it is today.
Technical Notes

This artwork was created using two separate Poser scenes that I then combined in Photoshop. I greatly enhanced the colors and contrast of the “Wonderland” side while muting the colors of the “trapped” side. To create the blend effect, I used a simple mask of the female figure from the Wonderland side then added a feathering effect to my selection before cutting away the excess background over the “trapped” side. The smoke for the blue caterpillar was also added in postwork.
