This is an idea I’ve had floating around in my head for a while. My first attempt at this a few years ago had the woman looking at the ruins of a circus or carnival but that didn’t work out so well. When I saw these decrepit playground equipment models by Trekkiegrrrl in the Renderosity Free Stuff area, I knew then that they would be perfect for this idea of mine. So here we have it, “Reverie”.
Technical Notes

I used IDL for the lighting along with a “sun” light and a basic specular light. I meant to use depth of field on this scene, but I forgot to. I think it looks quite good without it, so I won’t be re-rendering the scene any time soon. In postwork I used a variety of actions and overlays to amplify and add detail to the sunset effects of the scene. Finally, I added a thin border and then the artwork is complete.
