You Go First

I created this artwork for this year’s annual Halloween contest over at Renderosity. This year’s theme is “trick or treat” and here is my first idea for it. (Will I come up with more? I’m allowed two more but so far, my muse is silent.) The idea is two trick or treaters who are trying to decide who should go up to the spooky-looking house first. Wish me luck? Well, actually I can’t post this until after the contest is over in November so that luck wouldn’t count towards this. Oh well. I’ll update this post before I publish it with the results of the contest.

I rendered this scene in Poser 12 Superfly with lots of emissive lighting materials! The lights inside the house are created by emissive lighting materials on a ball primitive. Same goes for the pumpkins. I also added emissive light materials to the trees, candles, and cat’s eyes. I then enhanced the glows of all the emissive lights in postwork with a blurry colored brush on a screen and/or dodge layer. The flying birds in the sky (or are they bats? Either one.) are from a brush in postwork rather than 3d models in the render.
