Springtime WIPs
Here I am going to preview some of my upcoming commercial art projects along with some of my larger artwork projects as well. I even plan to create some video tutorials so you can look forward to those too. I have my ideas brainstormed and I have my trusty microphone, I just need to write my tutorial scripts then record the videos and narration. No ETA just yet on the tutorials, so just be on the lookout and watch the News. Now, on to the previews and such!
This is an artwork project, not a commercial project WIP. I’ve had it in my “notebook of ideas” for a while to create a sequence of artworks that together tell a short story. I actually have two, maybe three, of these “sequential story” artworks ideas. The first one is called A Love Story and will be expressed in six parts. Here you can see an in-progress preview of the first artwork in the series. I never got around to doing this project before because I figured it would take longer than my patience would allow but now that I have my new GPU speeding things along… I decided now is the time to dive in! If this one works out well enough, I’ll work on the next story idea a little later on. It’s called An Outlaw Story.
I do believe I will next be working on clothing texture product as my next commercial project. I just haven’t decided on exactly which one to focus on first since I started work on textures for two base models. The first is a set for the “L’Homme Dress Shirt” by RPublishing. I plan on creating textures that are both formal and business casual for both the included shirt and tie. I will do my usual detailed stitch work and advanced material shader presets for both Superfly and Firefly. If I can manage to focus my focus on this set long enough to get it done, I should have it finished and in the Renderosity Marketplace soon.
The other clothing texture set I’ve been working on is a little more complicated due to the number of base models included in it. This is the Work & Leisure Set for La Femme and L’Homme by RPublishing. I will need to make textures for the overalls, shirts, boots, and hats for both La Femme and L’Homme. I plan on creating them with a “farmer/country” theme. My maternal grandfather wore nothing but clothing like this (overalls, cotton shirts, and boots) in some select colors/styles. So, I can use my old memories as a reference for these! I’ll work on these off and on then focus on them more once I finish the above dress shirts set.
While I was going through my old artworks to add them to this new website, I came across a few that I both liked and disliked. What I mean is, I liked the concept of them but disliked how I expressed that concept given my skills at the time of the creation of the particular artwork. So, I’m going to be doing a few redux artworks up next. The two I’m thinking of doing first and foremost are Birds of Play and Reverie. I’ll get to work on those probably before I get back to work on the sequential stories project.
That’s all for now. I’ll see you next time for another WIP post or for a News post!
