I have an official “The Force Awakens” poster in my bedroom as part of my pop culture poster collection in there. I’ve been wanting to create my own version of it for some time now. Well, I finally did it! I did make some changes though. The poster has Rey mostly in shadow and shows X-Wings in the sky above her for some reason. I think the Falcon and some TIEs makes a little more sense. What do you think of her footprints in the sand? I guess I could have done that in the render with some precise use of the morph tools but instead I just painted that effect in postwork along with adding some sand particles to her boots and BB-8’s lower body. I had trouble with posing her skirt pieces in my earlier versions of this artwork. Thank you, Verica, for helping me make it better for this final version.
UPDATE 2025: I decided that the original version of this scene looked too cartoonish. I decided to go back and do some adjusting in postwork to give it more of a warm afternoon look. I also added some very subtle swirling sand. I think it looks better now.
