Her head cocked to one side, she stopped eating, started throwing up and had diarrhea. I took her to her vet and he said she had a severe ear infection that had spread to her brain. He gave us two different antibiotics to give her and hoped for the best. She continued to deteriorate. She stopped being able to poop and stopped drinking water at all. She looked miserable and in constant pain. This morning, Mom and I went together to take Pixie back to her vet. There was only one thing we could do, say goodbye. So, this morning of March 23, 2026, we said goodbye to Pixie one last time and let her cross over the rainbow bridge free of her pain.<\/p>\n<p>She was more my parents&#8217; dog than mine. She and Dad were so close before the dementia destroyed him. After he had to go to the long-term care facility, Pixie grew ever closer to Mom and vice versa. Losing Pixie&#8230; it feels like I&#8217;ve lost even more of Dad.
