A New Year Has Dawned
A new year has dawned and with it I got yet another diagnosis back on Friday, Idiopathic Hypersomnia. You see, for the past few months I’ve either been unable to sleep for days at a time or am asleep for days at a time. Last week I spent three consecutive days (all day and night) in bed sleeping. Then next night, I was unable sleep. I talked to my psychiatrist about it and that was her diagnosis, but she wants me to do a sleep study before changing or adding any medications. So, I’ve got that to look forward to now. Oh, I also learned that since July, I’ve lost 22 lbs. Nice! I wonder if it’s because my appetite has been abnormal and/or because I finally gave up soda last August.
I’m starting a new art project for the new year; a series of random fan art showcasing my favorite movies, TV shows, and video games. I’ve already sketched out a number of ideas, and I’ve been gathering 3D assets so that I can get started making the magic happen. I’ve found most of what I need for all of my current ideas. I’m not sure which idea I’ll do first though… I guess we’ll all find that out in a few days. I suppose I could preview the topics of some of those ideas. There are about four or five centered around Indiana Jones, three or so around Doctor Who, a couple Star Trek, several MCU movies and TV, plus some tributes to some of my favorite video games like Tomb Raider, RDR2, Syberia, etc. I’ve posted previews of the characters I’ve started creating for this project on my Dream 9 Art website.
Oh, and don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about my Star Saga project. I’ll get back to it soon as I have a TON of Star Wars fan art ideas that I have yet to create.
I’ve also spent the past few days trying to backup all of my ancient hard drives (some dating back to 2009 and with some files even older than that) to my new mega backup drive. It’s a 14Tb USB 3.0 external drive. I learned quickly that you can’t copy files directly from one USB connected drive to another. At least I couldn’t. I’ve been copying files from the old hard drives to one of my internal drives, then disconnect old hard drive and connect the backup and copy the files over to it. I need to see how much space I’ve used on the backup drive so far. It’s far from full, I know that.
I do have some great news to share today. I won Second Place in the Annual Renderosity Holiday Art Contest! You can see my winning entry, Gingerbread Latte, next to this paragraph. I won $100 cash, a $50 Renderosity gift certificate, 6-month Prime membership, and some social media attention/site articles. Pretty cool, eh?
In pet news, Pixie is very sick. We think she has infected anal glands, but we won’t know for sure until we get her to the vet. They were full-up today, so I’ve got to call back in the early morning to try and get her in tomorrow. She has very bad diarrhea and a bright red butt. That anal glad smell is emanating from said bright red butt which is why we think they are the issue. I also need to get Abbey to her vet as she has a dime sized lump on her tummy. I hope it’s nothing to worry about, but I’d like to hear that from the vet before I will stop worrying night and day.
Did you know I once had a sassy little parrotlet named Austin? All of the photos I have of him were from when I had yet to learn how to focus my bulky camera. (This was 1999 – 2011). Well, today I decided to put AI to use doing something that’s actually beneficial, I used it to enlarge and enhance all of those photos. You can see all of the newly enlarged photos in his gallery on this blog. It’s like seeing him all over again. Damn, I miss that little bird!!
