The Wild Thing

There once was a turtle named Wild Thing, because I really sucked at naming pets when I was a kid.

Notes
I used to live next to a pond that was full of turtles, and we also had a swimming pool with an automated skimmer that would often have (live) baby turtles in it whenever we checked it in the early summer. I usually released the baby turtles back into the pond, but one I actually kept for a while when I was a little kid. I named him “Wild Thing” after the song. I eventually had to release him back into the pond too when he became too big for his enclosure on top of my dresser and when Dad found out kids could get salmonella from pet reptiles like turtles (and the latter meant I couldn’t keep any other turtles later on either). So, I created this to honor all the little turtles who gave me such joy as a kid.
